Comment about those who ardently support ( and distort) the 2nd Amendment while ignoring the 14th amendment (section 3) rings true. This phenomenon of biased selection is carried out by some readers of the Holy Bible and the Koran as well, isn't it? One would hope voices like yours could make a difference, but I don't have my hopes up.

Thanks Sharron,

I agree with everything you said with a relatively small exception. "This phenomenon of biased selection is carried out by some readers of the Holy Bible and the Koran." I would lean toward replacing the words "some readers" with "most readers." Thousands of years of agenda driven manipulation of even "divinely inspired" words lends itself to confusion at best and evil at worst. We're forced to either accept the Bible or Koran cafeteria style, or to accept guidance which was likely to have been inserted by a bunch of power-hungry, greedy old men for two thousand plus years.

I'm not very optimistic either but I think it's imperative to keep challenging people to reconsider some of their own beliefs from different perspectives.

You have pegged it perfectly, Mark. Why not write a post specifically about this. I tend to down play my actual beliefs on Substack posts and comments to avoid unwanted backlash. I have never been on social media, but I am told it can get quite vitriolic, and, sadly, Substack seems to be heading in that direction. I am chicken-hearted. I wasn't always like that, but now I am.

I truly understand where you're coming from. I was talking to Emily my wife less than an hour ago about "coming out" with my beliefs and the minefields I'd be traversing. But, its time is coming. It can't be a couple posts though - spirituality and religion are such complex topics not to mention the cultural constraints.

Thanks Sharron for the prod however.

Now it’s past the middle of this night… and I’ve dipped into and enjoyed four or more of your delights… enjoy is my ranking for capturing my busy head and engaging my nervous energy to ponder the topic(s) and my own system of ranking … the first story of the elk ‘leader’ fending off interlopers (wolves?) bent on quick dinners of young ones running along w moms & siblings… Earlier this very evening I read a similar story of possibly another elk herd… or another leader ..bull? No ! Bear? No! Nonetheless marvelous imagery of large group of animals on the move w young ones and attack animals again, wolves? But they’re not the only group hunters.. too much reading mixed topics.. later hours..

What’s important is that I’ve found a new-to-me Substack writer I’m looking forward to more of!

Especially wonderful that you’re not full up w commentary on our grotesque political montage… where I spend much of my time & emotional life… good night for now! Thanks for being here!

I’m optimistic but prepared for worst case scenarios.

I get it, but the worst-case scenarios are so hard to imagine, not to mention plan for. Crazed lunatics are just that - pretty hard to predict. I've signed up to be a poll worker in town here in part because they need more dems in this red county and town - but I doubt there will be any problems here - the police department is in the same building.
