Sorry, but with all due respect I'm not going to go down a line of rabbit holes here. Complex problems require complex solutions and a foundation of facts, not agenda driven talking points. The first line of a string of comments I removed was the latter.
The more important question I ask myself and others is - Could the patterns that we admire or overlook in others be a reflection of the buried patterns within ourselves?
Mark, I'm very disappointed that you chose to delete Switter's very concise and respectful comments. They were in no way incendiary except perhaps that they in some way challenged your narrative. I understand that there is a certain type of person who is spoiling for a fight but these comments were not that, just personal observations, offered politely and without rancor. I think if you're going to proffer political opinion, you should be open to receiving comments of all sorts. Much respect brother but this seems a little bit too much like "Us and Them"
Good morning, Jim. The purpose of my original piece was to get us all to think of the patterns and trajectories at this time when we tend to lean toward posturing - including me.
At least recently, when I see misinformation being disseminated, I feel it's important to challenge that misinformation on the spot with fact checking from primary sources. The first sentence of Switter's three paragraph comment contained a misrepresentation. Nowhere could I find Harris advocating "price-fixing" and yet Switter had switched the topic from her wanting to address price gouging to the well-worn topic of price-fixing - which I agree hasn't worked. His comment was filled with what I considered misinformation which left unchallenged would suggest I agreed with it.
I concur whole-heartedly with every word you wrote, but with each one of my attempts to respond to Switter's very respectful comments, I saw more misinformation I wanted to challenge in his responses. You said "I think if you're going to proffer political opinion, you should be open to receiving comments of all sorts." Well friend, you hit the nail on the head. Between my wife's failed chemotherapy, her surgery three days ago, and a heart-to-heart depressing discussion with her oncologist yesterday, I should have never posted that piece for the reason that you stated.
After a large amount of thought and failed (canceled) attempts to write to Switter without going deeper into another round of - who is right, I deleted his comments but also my own. Then, I did all but delete the post . I made a huge mistake and feel bad for what would suggest a disrespect for Switter who I greatly respect.
I truly appreciate your thoughts and will try to apologize to Switter when I'm not in such a funk where I might make things worse. Blessings to you as well.
Mark, I truly regret having given you a hard time. You are a concerned and involved citizen and for that, you should be commended, especially with what you are going through now. Please accept my apology and know that you and your wife are in my prayers.
No apology necessary. You called me out for what certainly had the appearance of hypocrisy - that's what friends do to foster growth. I've re-learned an important lesson - think ahead.
Thank you Jim and we certainly appreciate the prayers.

God bless.

Hey Jim,
No apology necessary. You called me out for what certainly had the appearance of hypocrisy - that's what friends do to foster growth. I've re-learned an important lesson - think ahead.
Thank you Jim and we certainly appreciate the prayers.
