Explain one thing to me. We, I hope, can all agree that Lori Lightfoot, the almost former mayor of ChicAgo, was a horrible mayor right? Enough people thought she did a lousy job that she didn’t make it into the anticipated run off. Glimmer of hope that the pro police, law and order person would get elected and attempt to straighten things out in that city that is falling apart. Explain how the democrats in Chicago (because there are not enough republicans to make any sort of dent in that machine) have now elected a man who has even more extreme views than she did, anti police, & pro teacher even with the lousy stats on what the Chicago schools are producing. You say that the gop has a problem, but I say that “problem” goes both ways. I want a lot of the old timers on both sides of the aisle to retire, old school doesn’t really cut it anymore, but we must stay focused on the Constitution which is what keeps us the greatest nation on the face of the earth. Las and order must prevail, and we need to stop making “government” the answer to every freaking thing.

Good Morning Judy -

Thank you for your comments.

Unless I have the time to research ALL sides of complex issues, my opinion regarding specific people or specific policies is just chatter. I do know that neither MSNBC nor Fox are likely to lift up the accomplishments of their chosen villains. That complicates the black and white narratives which we all tend to lean toward. I would surely agree that focusing on the Constitution is really important but so is recognizing that it was written in a different world and 2 1/2 centuries ago.

Like the Bible, I feel the Constitution is timeless and most of the well educated justices feel the same way. I research a lot and if something sounds like BS, whoever says it, I look it up (not on Google) and try to get to the truth. I try to only listen to educated people who know how to do good research and explain it in a manner that anyone can understand. MSNBC is insane, Fox is meh depending on who it is and/or who their guests are. Most of the other alphabets trend liberal in their spin. I will always listen to Newt on politics and Heather Lynn Mac Donald (on crime stats and other info there is no one who even comes close), Betsy McCaughey (former lt. gov. Of NY) on medical stuff, Bill Bennett on education stats and life in general. Like I’ve said to you previously, growing up where we (me & Em) did gave us a bigger world view than many and helped us learn to not be so black and white. But we must leave the kids out of sexual stuff, keep men out of girls locker rooms and off their teams, and stop lowering standards so everyone passes. Kids must work to the best of their ability & provide assistance when needed. Dropping gifted and talented programs is moronic-these kids are the ones who are going to cure cancer and invent amazing things. I could go on but I think you get the point.

The point of my blog is not to argue different positions on different topics. And it is not to learn the nuances of one side of issues so that I can make bullet proof arguments to defend my position. There will always be very intelligent word spinners on both sides that can do the same. Biases and ulterior motives behind their positions will only sometimes come to the surface. If I only pay attention to one word-spinner, I only explore one side of the coin. My goal is to encourage people to respect others and their beliefs in spite of their differences, not to scrutinize their differences. And I want to remain firmly attached to reality as I do so.
